SFT Simulator The SFT simulator complements the training fleet for advanced ratings and licences. The simulator is approved by South Africa's Civil Aviation Authority as procedural trainer (P1-SFT). The simulation engine is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, complemented by a configurable radio stack and flight controls to produce a realistic cockpit environment. A number of different light aircraft models can be simulated. We have successfully used this simulator to bring more than a dozen students up to standard for night and instrument ratings and for the Commercial Pilot Licence. We also use the simulator for a part of the required instrument training for the PPL, and during recurrent training, we scratch off the rust that accumulates on a typical pilot between revalidations. |
